Halloween has come once again with the uneasiness of all its frightful noises and horrifying figures.
The chilly air creeps through someone’s house and there they are lying in bed, on a call with their friends, talking about random subjects. Then one of their friends asks the key question of the month, “What are we going to do for Halloween?”
Some local ideas to do for this Halloween could be amusement parks, pumpkin patches, or even haunted houses.
Horrendous monsters and scares everywhere, an amusement park that puts you into the shoes of a thriller. Knott’s Scary Farm places this thought into reality with its thrilling rides and even more terrifying scarers.
The amusement park in Buena Park, CA is open for horrifying nights with 15 haunted attractions from September 16 through October 31 at 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on select Thursdays and Sundays, and from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. on select Fridays and Saturdays.
Make sure to buy tickets in advance since not only will it let you choose what day, but it will also save you the irritation of waiting in line. Ticket admission’s lowest cost is $59 online and the fright and fast lane pass at the lowest are $135 online, though it doesn’t include admission.
“Honestly, the lines were pretty boring, but the scarers saved the experience from its boredom,” says Sarah Quiroga, a student from MVHS, “I’ll probably get a fast pass next time to save the wait…” Though it is recommended to get the fright and fast lane pass.
The light sweet scent wafts through the air, the smell of pumpkin comes over from a place. Pumpkin City, located next to Laguna Hills mall, CA. Open during all of October from 11 a.m – 8 p.m on Mondays – Thursdays, and 10 a.m – 10 p.m on Fridays – Sundays.
There is an admission fee of $6.00 for ages of 2+ and don’t worry there is no parking fee. The patch has some rides, live performances, and yes, even pumpkins.
Of course, most rides, activities, and games need 3 – 9 tickets and each ticket costs $1.55. Though there are also 25, 50, and 100 ticket packs instead of just getting individual tickets.
At the Kaleidoscope near Mission Viejo mall, There’s an event called Haunt of Halloween on the 28th through the 31st of October. Tickets are about $18 – $29.50 and the price might go down on the 31st to about $14.50 – 29.50.
It starts at 7 p.m. on Thursday and 6 p.m on Friday-Sunday. There will be a haunted maze that is “Psychologically designed to shock your senses,” according to the official page and it also has a scare zone where people get 5 minutes to scare other maze runners. There will be a face your fears sensory attraction and live performances.
For additional fees, you could get a makeover by Hollywood special effects make-up artists from Cinema Makeup School, which will for sure frighten your friends and family. Plus, there will be a museum of oddities and Halloween-themed food.
If you want an even more local event that’s terrifying, then try Pirates Cave: Curse of Calico Jack, located at 2548 East Garfield Avenue Orange, CA. The haunted house is open on Fri-Sat: 6:30-10 p.m. and at Sun: 6:30-9 p.m.
The general admission cost is free, though they have an express queue that is $8 per person. Additionally, due to its more kid-friendliness, it’s slightly less scary compared to what you would find at a more mature haunted house but still has the scares that you would expect.
